Many Bruce Willis fans probably still can’t accept the fact that they will never see their favorite actor in new roles again. In March he announced that he would be retiring from acting due to a serious illness that would have prevented him from performing normally.
Bruce revealed that he has been diagnosed with the disease aphasia, which is an impaired ability to reproduce and/or understand someone else’s speech. A diagnosis that is a test not only for him, but also for his whole family.
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis have long been considered the closest exes in Hollywood. The couple, married for 11 years and with three children — Rumer (34), Scout (31) and Tallulah (28) — have become even closer since Bruce’s serious diagnosis, reports RadarOnline.
“Demi is in constant contact with Bruce and Emma,” a source revealed to the publication. “She takes every opportunity to spend time with him. If she’s not with him, she’s on her phone so Bruce can hear her voice.”
The whole family rallied around the 67-year-old star. “They know it won’t be here forever,” the insider says. “So they appreciate every moment.”
Demi and Bruce’s blended family — he has two daughters with Emma: Mabel (10) and Evelyn (8) — often vacation together in Idaho.
“They’ve always had special times together. Family traditions they loved continue, like sleepovers and game nights.” Now Demi and Emma are even closer as they battle her deterioration. According to the publication, Emma Hemming has become a mediator between exes.
“Bruce can’t say much and doesn’t seem to accept everything other people say,” added the source close to the family. “So Emma is really the voice and the communicator for him.”
Despite her declining health, her loved ones are trying to stay healthy and with a lot of hope in their hearts, especially as the holidays approach.
“There are days where they see glimpses of old Bruce, but they are few and far between,” the source revealed. “He seems to be slipping away from them more and more and it breaks their hearts.”
Everyone hopes to spend the holidays with their beloved dad. “Girls can’t imagine Christmas without Bruce. It was painful to see him deteriorate. The older girls miss the old Bruce, the one who used to tease them about their boyfriends and give them unsolicited advice.”
