Brother of DPRK founder Kim Il Sung dies

Kim Yong Joo has passed away at 102 years of age. The last time it was shown on the DPRK state television was six years ago.

The brother of the late North Korean founder Kim Il Sung – Kim Yong Joo – has passed away at the age of 101. The cause of death and the exact date were not reported, writes Yonhap.

The head of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, expressed condolences on the death of Kim Yong-un. He sent a wreath to the family of a deceased relative.

Kim Young Joo was born in 1920. After his brother came to power, he held several leading positions in the country. Until 1973, he headed the Organization Department of the Korean Workers’ Party. After that he left political life. In 1993, Kim Yong Joo again became a member of the Politburo.

He was last shown on DPRK state television in 2015, when he bowed to portraits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il after voting in local elections.
