British stars ask Prime Minister Johnson for ‘corona passport’ to save arts sector | NOW

British stars are calling for the introduction of a ‘corona passport’ so that the cultural sector can reopen more quickly. In an open letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, signed by, among others, actor Ralph Fiennes and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, it is called for the introduction of test and vaccination certificates with which visitors can go to the theater or a festival, among other things.

For example, the ‘passport’ would state that the visitor has been tested negative for the corona virus or has been vaccinated. The letter writers also propose that visitors with such proof do not have to keep their distance during events and that wearing a mouth mask is not necessary, reports The Guardian. They believe that solutions must be found quickly to make events safe again.

Hundreds of musicians and artists also wrote a letter to Johnson last week. Artists like Paul McCartney, Kate Bush and Noel Gallagher believe that something should be done about the law surrounding the income from streaming services. According to them, the current legislation, whereby musicians and artists earn a small percentage from streamed music, is no longer of this time.
