That’s the newspaper Sunday Times who writes that Leicester can be quarantined in a few days.
The newspaper cites a source who works closely with Health Minister Matt Hancock.
This will be the first time the UK authorities have introduced such a measure at the local level during the corona crisis.
658 new cases of infection have been registered in the Leicester area in the two weeks up to June 16. This represents around 25 percent of the city’s total 2,494 cases of infection.
Interior Minister Priti Patel was a guest on Sunday’s BBC program “Andrew Marr Show”. There she confirmed that the British government is considering isolating Leicester.
“When the infection catches up locally, a local solution is the right answer,” Patel said in the program.
With the suburbs, Leicester has a population of around half a million.
