“Our members made a pragmatic decision under the circumstances, but the fact that we have failed to persuade BA to avoid forced redundancies represents a bitter disappointment,” said Balpa (British Airline Pilots Association) Secretary General Brian Strutton.
The company, which employs 4,300 pilotsHe initially planned to fire 1,255 pilots and then rehire others on less favorable terms.
The subsidiary of the IAG group, integrated among others by the Spanish Iberia and Vueling, had planned in late April the dismissal of a total of 12,000 people, that is to say a quarter of its personnel.
