Britain summons Russian ambassador over Navalny poisoning – Politics

British Foreign Secretary Dominik Rab announced on Monday that the government had summoned the Russian ambassador to express “deep concern” over the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

As Rabbi writes on Twitter, “it is completely unacceptable that a banned chemical weapon has been used, and Russia must conduct a full, transparent investigation.”

The Berlin clinic “Charite” announced on Monday that Navalny has been awakened from a medical coma and is responding to verbal stimuli.

The 44-year-old Navalny was unconsciously taken to Omsk Hospital on August 20 with signs of poisoning, but two days later was transferred to Germany, where he was treated by the Charite clinic at the University of Berlin.

On September 2, the German government announced that there was conclusive evidence that Navalny had been poisoned by a nerve-paralyzing warfare substance belonging to the Novichok group.

The Russian state has categorically denied the allegation of its involvement in the incident with Navalny.
