Brigjen Prasetio Snared Article Layered Related to Djoko Tjandra

Head of Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim) National Police Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo revealed that Brigjen Prasetijo Utomo will be charged with multiple articles related to fugitive cases Djoko Tjandra.

He explained that while a high-ranking police officer was suspected of committing a criminal offense in making fake letters and attempting to obstruct the investigation of fugitive Djoko Tjandra.

“The initial allegations violated Article 221 and 263 of the Criminal Code,” Listyo told reporters on Monday (7/20).


He explained that currently a joint investigation would be conducted between the investigation team and Propam who was the internal supervisor of the Bhayangkara Corps. According to him, the detective team will use the results of the temporary inspection of Prasetijo at Propam.

“On Monday (Today) the Propam (Profession and Security) interrogation results will be submitted as the basis for the LP (Police Report),” he said.

The special detective team formed by Kabareskrim consists of personnel from the Directorate of General Crimes, the Directorate of Corruption, the Directorate of Cyber.

From the results of an internal inspection, it was found that Brig. Gen. Prasetijo Utomo who was a former National Police Criminal Investigation Police Unit had abused his authority by issuing a travel permit for Djoko Tjandra to travel in Indonesia last June.

“As for the parties involved outside the National Police Institution, they are currently in the process of further investigation and deepening,” he continued.

In this case, three National Police Officers were removed by the National Police Chief from his position. First, the Head of the Bareskrim PPNS Coordinating and Oversight Bureau of the National Police Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo after being proven to sign a road letter for Djoko crossing from Jakarta to Pontianak last June.

The removal was in accordance with the National Police telegram letter numbered ST / 1980 / VII / KEP. / 2020 dated July 15, 2020. In this case, Prasetijo underwent an examination in the Professional and Security Division (Propam) and was detained for 14 days in a special room at the National Police Headquarters.

Then, Head of the International Relations Division Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte and NCB Interpol Indonesia Secretary Brigadier General Nugroho Slamet Wibowo. Both of them underwent examination at Propam and were declared to have violated the ethics.

The removal of the two high-ranking officers was contained in a telegram letter (STR) number ST / 2076 / VII / KEP / 2020 signed by the National Police Human Resources (HR) System Inspector General Sutrisno Yudi Hermawan on behalf of the National Police Chief dated July 17, 2020.
