ghent’s Krommewalbrug Reopens After Six-Month Closure with Community Celebration
Ghent, Belgium – July 5, 2025 – The newly constructed Krommewalbrug in Ghent, belgium, officially opens to all traffic today, Saturday, July 5th, following a six-month closure for replacement. The bridge, a vital connection between the Ottogracht and Sluizeken areas, was deemed too weak for current traffic demands, necessitating a full rebuild.
A vibrant neighborhood festival on Friday,July 4th,marked the near completion of the project and celebrated with local residents. The festivities included a unique yoga session – thirty participants practiced downward facing dog on the bridge itself – alongside music from local DJs, children’s activities like chalk drawing, and refreshments
