Marbury Trial Focuses on Movements with Possible Body
The first-degree murder trial of Brian aaron Marbury continued Wednesday with detailed testimony outlining his movements in the early hours of May 29, 2023, following the death of Sahra bulle. Windsor Police Sergeant Arjei Franklin walked the jury through a timeline constructed from surveillance footage and phone records.
Crown attorney Emile Carrington presented a map illustrating a route police believe Marbury took between 2:30 and 4:30 a.m.,potentially transporting Bulle‘s body. This included footage showing Marbury leaving the Bestway Motel carrying a heavy object, described by Franklin as appearing to be a body due to its weight and the visible movement of limbs.
The court also reviewed footage from nearby businesses, revealing a period of approximately two hours where Marbury was not captured on camera, before he returned to the motel carrying only a blanket.
Earlier testimony established that Marbury purchased a shovel, bleach, and garbage bags at local stores – canadian Tire and Shoppers Drug Mart – prior to Bulle’s death. However, Franklin confirmed the shovel has not been recovered. Similarly, bags belonging to Bulle, last seen when she was staying at Hiatus House women’s shelter, remain missing.
The Crown also presented phone records detailing interaction between Bulle and her boyfriend, alongside location data placing her phone near both Hiatus House and the Bestway Motel.
Sergeant Franklin is scheduled to return to the stand Thursday for cross-examination by defence lawyer Kenneth Marley.
Marbury, a resident of Michigan, has pleaded guilty to causing an indignity to a human body. He is currently on trial for first-degree murder in Bulle’s death. Marley has previously suggested alternative explanations for Bulle’s death, including the possibility of an overdose or accidental passing, and argued that injuries observed on her body could have resulted from CPR attempts and the subsequent movement of her remains. The jury has been informed that the condition of Bulle’s remains, discovered in a shallow grave near the motel, prevented a conclusive determination of her cause of death.
