Brewers’ Rookie Pitcher Misiorowski Lands on IL
Tibia Contusion Sidelines All-Star
The Milwaukee Brewers have placed promising rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski on the injured list, a significant blow to their rotation as they prepare for their series against the Washington Nationals.
Setback for Rising Star
Misiorowski, an All-Star selection this season, is sidelined with a left tibia contusion. The injury occurred during his last outing against the Chicago Cubs. He was moved to the IL retroactively to Thursday.
The 23-year-old right-hander expressed optimism about his return, telling reporters, I anticipate missing about two starts and being ready to go after the 15 days.
Origin of the Injury
The injury stemmed from a line drive off the bat of the Cubs’ Seiya Suzuki that struck Misiorowski on the shin in the first inning of his last start. Later that same inning, after fielding a ground ball, Misiorowski’s knee buckled during a throw to first base, allowing two runners to score.
Despite the apparent discomfort, Misiorowski remained in the game, completing three additional innings and throwing 80 pitches before being removed. This season, he has posted a 4-1 record with an impressive 47 strikeouts over 33⅓ innings pitched.
Roster Move
In a corresponding move, the Brewers recalled right-hander Logan Henderson from their Triple-A affiliate in Nashville. Henderson is expected to take Misiorowski’s place in the starting rotation against the Nationals.
A recent report from MLB Pipeline highlights Misiorowski‘s emergence, noting his elite velocity and promising curveball, ranking him among the league’s top pitching prospects. His absence will be felt as the Brewers push for a playoff spot.
