“There will be more Christmas lighting on more streets than last year, more dispersed to avoid crowds, bringing people in a controlled and safe way. The AVEC president said that “complicated times are ahead”, arguing that “everyone must have a lot of creativity and a lot of resilience”.
“This is a storm that is going to pass. Anyone who can stand will be strengthened, ”he said, referring to the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the city’s commercial fabric.
“Virtual” fashion shows, exhibitions, window contests and gastronomic events are some of the initiatives announced today during the signing of the cooperation protocol with the Chamber for the recovery and reactivation of local commerce in Viana do Castelo.
The Mayor, José Maria Costa, underlined that the support of 209 thousand euros, approved at the last council meeting, intends to “demonstrate the confidence of the municipality in traditional commerce, essential in the life of the city and the municipality and to show consumers that the sector is prepared to receive them, being safe places ”.
“We want to regain the confidence of consumers, and draw the attention of the territories of proximity, such as Galicia, creating a climate of security in an environment of great difficulty”, reinforced the socialist mayor.
José Maria Costa said that the actions that are being prepared intend to “boost the sector of clothing, gold, handicrafts, automobiles, restaurants and hotels”.
