At the end of the season, there will be no acrobatic jumpers in Yaroslavl planned for this weekend at the end of the season. The ski jumpers will lose the races in Nizhny Tagil (March 18-20) and Tchaikovsky (March 25-27), and the finals of the World Ski Crossing Championships in Tyumen (March 18-20) will not take place. The FIS will try to find replacement organizers for the races.

“After consulting with all stakeholders, the FIS has decided, in the interests of the safety of all actors and to preserve the integrity of the World Cup, to cancel or relocate all remaining World Cup events scheduled for the end of the season in Russia,” the FIS said in an official statement.

Back on Wednesday, the FIS said that despite Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it would not disrupt the weekend World Cups. The federation is now focusing on helping all participants who are already at the site of the originally planned races in Sunny Valley and Yaroslavl to return home safely.

Most skiers flew to Russia on Monday immediately after the Beijing Olympics. 55 out of 61 men and 19 out of 26 women did not start the qualifiers – two in a row. According to ČTK, all foreign competitors are currently trying to leave the country.
