A 17-year-old boy was lifted from his bed by officers at 6:30 this morning and arrested. He is said to have set up an Instagram account, which in recent days has often been called for riots in Helmond.
The boy has been taken to the police station for further investigation, reports Broadcasting Brabant. Several phones have been confiscated.
In connection with the call for riots, the municipality will close the Weverspark in Helmond for the next two nights. The park is not accessible between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM. That applies in any case to the next night and the night from Sunday to Monday.
“There were reports on social media that young people were being called upon to riot in Helmond. We do not tolerate this behavior,” the municipality said. “We are closely monitoring the situation together with the police and the Public Prosecution Service and will take action if necessary
Riots before
In Helmond and Eindhoven, similar calls on social media previously led to sometimes fierce riots. In June it was hit several times. In Helmond it came to a confrontation between the police and more than a hundred young people. Fireworks and stones were thrown. The police then arrested six young people.
Earlier this summer, calls for riots were also called in Eindhoven. Part of the Tongelre district was locked up as a precaution.
