Last night, the Warriors sent Glen Robinson III and Alec Burks to Philadelphia against three second draft rounds. We learn today through Keith Smith, insider to the Celtics that Boston was also in the race to recover the two players. Only, Golden State did not want players in exchange to continue to make room in its course. Boston for its part did not seem ready to cut players from its roster to accommodate the two outsiders.
It must be said that on the Celtics’ side, all contracts are guaranteed and Boston a priori did not want to cut extended contracts until at least next year. A missed opportunity for Danny Ainge and his clique to strengthen for the playoffs.
Told Boston was in on Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III, but Golden State would not take take any salary back. Boston wasn’t willing to waive players who have guaranteed money extending into next season. Lack of roster spots is working against the Celtics a little right now.
