Borussia Dortmund’s offensive was unstoppable even in the home game against Eintracht Frankfurt. After the Frankfurt team decided to play aggressively in the second half, they conceded one goal after another and BVB won 4-0 (1-0). In the first half, Łukasz Piszczek (33.) put Dortmund in the lead. In the second round, the strong player Jadon Sancho (50th), Erling Håland (54th) and Raphaël Guerreiro (74th) followed.

Both teams were initially focused on not conceding a goal. Until Piszczek’s goal, a free kick by Guerreiro in the 9th minute was the home team’s most dangerous move. The Portuguese shot the ball through the wall – the ball slapped against the post halfway up. Dortmund had significantly more possession, the Frankfurt ran after.

Dortmund then took the lead in the 33rd minute. The Frankfurt team could not clear a Guerreiro cross from the left. The ball landed on Achraf Hakimi, who covered Piszczek on the edge of the box. The substitute captain took the ball with a contact and sank it with his left foot in the short corner. Frankfurt’s goalkeeper Kevin Trapp had no chance of defense.

Eintracht coach Adi Hütter changed at halftime and brought Bas Dost for Mijat Gaćinović. The idea of playing more aggressively backfired. The Borussia got more space, countered in their own stadium and increased to 2: 0 just five minutes after the restart. Frankfurt lost the ball in the attack, Mats Hummels switched quickly. Then Sancho was completely alone on the left side, moved into the box and finished 2-0. Four minutes later, Håland increased to 3-0. In the 74th minute, Guerreiro made a 4-0 final score after a defensive error with a long-range shot.
Also because the much criticized Dortmund defense was not required in this game, BVB ultimately won clearly. Frankfurt lost for the first time in the second half of the season and remains in the middle of the table. Frankfurt player Sebastian Rode was not satisfied with the performance of his team “In the second half we beat ourselves. We were just too harmless in the front.”

BVB innervent Mats Hummels said to Dazn: “We were very committed and focused on all positions. It was not a zero defense, but a zero for the team because we did a good job.” Dortmund has moved up to second place in the table with the win. RB Leipzig can catch up with Werder Bremen tomorrow.
