Werder Bremen saved themselves with a six-goal show in the relegation, Fortuna Dusseldorf relegated: The season finale in the Bundesliga saw a surprising turn in the relegation battle. The Bremen defeated 1. FC Köln 6: 1 (3: 0) on Saturday and climbed to 16th place. Düsseldorf descended after the 0: 3 (0: 1) at Union Berlin. “Now the door is open again, I am very optimistic that we can do it,” said Marco Bode, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The relegation for Bremen is now against 1. FC Heidenheim or Hamburger SV.
Fortuna, on the other hand, descends from the Bundesliga for the sixth time. “This is a real low blow. We had planned so much. Today was too little,” said sports director Uwe Klein.
