The ten-year-old loved sports, made nonsense, was loud, also funny, argued violently with his sisters – and didn’t feel like doing schoolwork. His parents, who have seven children between the ages of two and 16, felt overwhelmed with the upbringing of their offspring, especially by the 10-year-old who “went nuts”.
When the youth welfare office threatened to take the son from the Wuppertal family, the need was great – and the offer from an old friend, who had just got in touch just recently, came right on. The 39-year-old offered the family to help look after the offspring. Above all, however, he kept an eye on the boy: played soccer with him, did his homework – and took him to Troisdorf over the weekend.
Child molester on trial in Bonn for 40 cases
A year and a half later, the shocking news: The alleged family friend had regularly sexually abused her son.
Since Tuesday, the 39-year-old from Troisdorf has had to answer a total of 40 cases of child abuse, of which twelve were serious attacks, before the Bonn regional court. The defendant made a confession on the first day of the trial. It is important to him that the boy no longer has to be heard as a witness.
Child molester offered help to large families
However, the defendant denies that he only offered the care assistance to the family friends in order to “realize his sexual ideas”. In the details, however, the confession became tough – and the gaps in memory grew bigger and bigger: “If you don’t want the boy to come after all,” said Chamber Chairman Wolfgang Schmitz-Justen very patiently, “we have to go through it now!”
The abuse was exposed in December 2019: The older sister had noticed that her brother had changed: “He stopped laughing, he was completely closed,” said the 17-year-old as a witness. Her brother cried bitterly, then told her everything.
Child molester convicted of 341 cases
Because he was terrified that his parents would punish him if it were to remain a secret. But the sister remained strict: “It’s important that you tell me, otherwise it will always go on.” The 17-year-old took her brother by the hand and they told the parents, a few days later they went to the police.
The defendant – with a relevant criminal record – was arrested immediately and has been in custody since December 2019. The district court of Freiburg / Breisgau had already sentenced the 39-year-old to five years and ten months in prison for 341 cases of sexual abuse of a wards.
