Three thousand camels were evacuated this Wednesday night from the port of Tripoli, Libya, after a bombing attack that occurred in the vicinity. Evacuation images are circulating on social media.

Three thousand animals of this species were removed, shortly after midnight on Wednesday, from the port of Tripoli, after a bombing by forces loyal to Khalifa Hafter, commander of the Libyan National Army. The group of camels was reportedly imported from Australia.
A Reuters reporter noted the moment when authorities were forced to shut down traffic for the thousands of animals to pass and escape the consequences of the bombing. Some animals even tried to stop to find food, but without success.
According to the news agency, a local trader said that the animals are now 45 km away from the port of Tripoli, but that 125 animals were stolen by a local armed group. It should be noted that camel meat is widely consumed in the country.
The conflict in Libya continues to create constraints in the country. Since the fall of the Muammar Gaddafi regime in 2011, chaos has become a watchword. The situation was complicated by the intervention of Khalifa Haftar, who since April 2019 has been trying to recover the capital. Tripoli is under the command of the National Accord Government, recognized by the United Nations since 2015.
