Makassar – Chief BNPT Komjen Boy Rafli Amar said that a married couple were the perpetrators suicide bomb of Makassar Cathedral Church was born in 1995. Boy called them millennials exposed to the virus of radicalism.
Initially, Boy said that acts of terrorism such as in Makassar were not the character of the Indonesian nation. According to him, yesterday’s incident could have happened because of the radical understanding that perches on young people.
“First of all, of course we reassure that the incident that occurred is an act that is inhumane, and what this has done is not the character of our nation, so the influence of the radicalism of terrorism is on the younger generation,” Boy told reporters, at Makassar Cathedral Church, Monday (29/3/2021).
Boy then mentioned that the two couples are examples of millennials who are exposed to this radicalism. According to him, the perpetrator was born in 1995.
“Because the perpetrator who was born in ’95 was identified, the initials L and his wife are of course the millennials who have become the hallmark of victims of terrorist network propaganda,” he said.
Boy then said that the current terrorist network propaganda is targeting young people. He called this radicalism virus invisible, even invisible, but over time it can change a person’s character to tolerant behavior.
“The propaganda network of terrorism is a term that I can say is like a ‘batman trap’ for young people, because the influence of the virus of radicalism is not felt then changes character, changing behavior that is not the true identity of the Indonesian nation. We are not like that, we are born as a tolerant nation, maintaining unity in the midst of diversity, a spirit of respect, a spirit of tolerance amidst differences, “he said.
“This virus perches among young people is not immediately visible, it is invisible, but over time you feel there will be a change in behavior,” Boy continued.
