The Mozambican senior men’s basketball team lost to Angola, by 58-87, in the first round of Group B qualifying for Afrobasket-Rwanda 2021.
Mozambique even got into the game better, but at a glance Angola went around the scoreboard and the interval was already winning by 14 points, 26-46.
In the second part, third and fourth periods, the lack of pace of the Mozambican team – most of the players have not been competing for almost 10 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic – was evident and the Angolans, 11 times Afrobasket winners. In the third period they went on to win by 43-70, 27 points difference and in the last 10 minutes it was just managing the expressive advantage.
It should be noted that Mozambique still faced Senegal with which it lost 53-60.
The Afrobasket Qualifying Tournament takes place in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, which is 2022 and will host the most prestigious event of the ball in the national team.
