The leader of Chega, André Ventura, announced, this Saturday, the candidacy for the next presidential elections, scheduled for January 2021.
Using a video sent to party leaders and activists, André Ventura states that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will be a “difficult opponent to sell” but he also wrote that his “silence” in the face of various situations that are happening in Portugal “is unacceptable”, such as corruption, the working conditions of the security forces, the difficulties in investigating politicians.
«Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is the face of this system, was born in this system, grew up with this system and defends this system. We are precisely the opposite », underlined André Ventura.
“More than winning, we are interested in the Portuguese learning about how bad the political system, the democratic system and the social system are,” he added.
The leader of Chega guarantees that he will remain a deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, “with the same intensity and the same determination”.
