Boise State Women’s basketball too Tip Off 2025-26 Season with Proven Leadership and Returning Firepower
Boise, Idaho - The Boise State women’s basketball team is set to begin the 2025-26 season with a strong foundation built on veteran leadership and a core of returning players. Head Coach Gordy Presnell, 30th all-time in NCAA women’s basketball history with 769 victories and currently fifth among all active Division I head coaches, will lead the Broncos into their season opener. Boise State boasts a remarkable 17-3 record in season openers under Presnell, having won their last three.
The Broncos enter the season with high expectations, fueled by the return of their top-four scorers and the recognition of key players in the Mountain West Conference. This season marks a continuation of Presnell’s successful tenure, aiming to build upon past achievements and contend for a conference championship. Leading the charge is Tatum Thompson, named the 2025-26 Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year. Thompson averaged a team-leading 13.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season, ranking 12th in the league in scoring and seventh in rebounding. She recorded seven double-doubles and scored in double figures 24 times,highlighted by a 25-point,eight-rebound performance against UNLV in the conference championship quarterfinal,shooting 11-for-15 from the floor.
Joining Thompson on the 2025-26 MW All-Preseason Team is Natalie Pasco, who averaged 12.5 points on 44.1% shooting last season.Pasco scored in double figures 22 times and led the Mountain West with a 41.1% shooting percentage from beyond the arc. Rounding out the returning scoring punch are Dani Bayes (9.1 points per game) and Mya Hansen (7.8 points per game), who combined with Thompson and Pasco to account for 59.9% of the Broncos’ points last season.
Boise State has added seven newcomers to the roster this season, including sixth-year player Madeline cooke, who redshirted last season. The Broncos will look to integrate these new faces as they pursue success in the upcoming 2025-26 campaign.
