Bohemia Energy is ending due to extreme prices. It has up to 900,000 consumption points

The company informed ČTK about it today. She stated that customers do not have to worry about being left without energy, supplies will be provided by a so-called supplier of last resort – ie the main supplier in the given distribution area. According to the company, the reason is the continuing extreme growth of energy in wholesale markets.

“It was the most difficult decision we had to make. We founded Bohemia Energy more than 15 years ago and our mission has always been to be a reliable and profitable energy supplier. The trust of more than a million customers has been a huge commitment and has kept us moving forward to provide the best possible service. , “said the owner of the Bohemia Energy group Jiří Písařík today. According to data from the Electricity Market Operator, the group supplied electricity to over 600,000 customers at the end of August, and less than 300,000 to gas.

According to the announcement, Bohemia Energy is looking for a solution for customers of Amper Market, which also belongs to the group. “I want to apologize for the complications to Amper Market’s clients, possibly Europe Easy Energy. I sold Amper Market to Bohemia Energy in 2018 with 100% purchased electricity,” the former owner of Amper Market, Jan Palaščák, wrote on twitter.

Bohemia Energy stated that the priority of the entire group is now to provide cooperation to customers in the transition to a new supplier and find the most suitable solution for them. They can still use contact infolines or e-mails and at the same time the websites of individual companies are continuously updated with all the necessary information, the company said. “A new contract with any supplier must be concluded within six months. Any electricity or gas consumption is considered unjustified after this period and there is a risk not only of interruption of energy supplies, but also recovery of damages and possibly dismantling of electricity or gas meters,” he writes. on its website Energy Regulatory Office.

In the case of electricity supplies, the suppliers of last resort are currently, depending on the specific region, E.ON Energie (southern part of the Czech Republic), Pražská energetika (Prague and its immediate surroundings) and ČEZ Prodej (central and northern Czech Republic). For gas, E.ON Energie (South Bohemian Region), Pražská plynárenská (Prague and its immediate surroundings) and innogy Energie (rest of the Czech Republic).

The supply of electricity and gas by the supplier of last resort may take a maximum of six months. Within this period, it is necessary for the customer to conclude a new supply contract. If this does not happen, the supplier of last resort may terminate the supply of electricity and gas.

Wholesale electricity and gas prices have recently risen to record highs, with some supplier price lists rising by tens of percent or even multiply. In addition to the impact on consumers, the situation has also caused problems for some suppliers. A few days ago, Bohemia Energy also left the Slovak market, where its company Slovakia Energy had about 300,000 consumption points. She justified this precisely by the development of wholesale energy prices and also by state price regulation. Customers of the local Slovakia Energy can also choose a new supplier, or the provision of supplies will be taken over by law from designated companies, which are the largest players on the market.

Last year, revenues of the Bohemia Energy energy group increased by seven percent year-on-year to CZK 23.1 billion. According to the results published in the Collection, the net profit of the parent Bohemia Energy entity increased by a third to 647.2 million crowns. According to last year’s Forbes magazine, the owner of the company, Jiří Písařík, and his family are the 32nd richest Czechs with assets of 7.3 billion crowns.

The customer center is closed

Bohemia Energy has closed its customer center in the Archa Palace in Prague. According to a message placed at the entrance, the center is closed for technical reasons.

Today, around 12 noon, the company’s customers began to gather at the customer center of the largest group of alternative energy suppliers in the Czech Republic in Prague 1. But they left the place unacquired. For technical reasons, there was no information at the customer center for technical reasons.

Therefore, some people tried to call the customer lines of Bohemia Energy, Comfort Energy, Energie ČS, Europe Easy Energy and X Energie. According to people contacted by ČTK, the lines were busy around noon.

“We have to terminate the contract and we have nowhere to go. He owes us a lot of money, but there is nowhere to contact the company,” one of Bohemia Energy’s customers told ČTK.

The government wants to minimize the impact
Government representatives have been dealing with the situation surrounding the closure of Bohemia Energy since Tuesday. Addressing how to minimize the impact on people, negotiations continue today. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) told ČTK. According to Babiš, there were signals that the company was in trouble. According to him, the representatives of the cabinet with other stakeholders resolved the situation on Tuesday and today, the negotiations continue in the afternoon. The Prime Minister considers it important that electricity supplies are not endangered in the current timeframe, but there is a need to address how to minimize the financial impact on people. Babiš is discussing the matter with Havlíček, Deputy Minister René Neděla, representatives of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), and talked with ČEZ CEO Daniel Beneš.

“We have legal tools for these cases, no one will lose energy supplies, they will all be transferred to suppliers of last resort. Babiš spoke earlier about the possibility of reducing VAT on energy. According to Havlíček’s earlier statement, the cabinet wants to use the so-called energy checks to contribute to the expenditure on rising electricity for about 800,000 low-income families. He plans to pay them about half the amount for the increased costs.
