BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) – The converted Model 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) received more than 150 orders in China, Boeing China announced on Tuesday. The 737-800BCF project recently won twelve new orders, demonstrating the strong demand for conversion freighters in the express delivery and e-commerce market, Boeing China said.
In 2016, Boeing started the 737-800BCF conversion project exclusively for the Chinese market, where there is a rapidly growing e-commerce industry and great demand.
To date, Boeing and its partners have set up production lines for the conversion project in the three Chinese cities of Shanghai, Jinan and Guangzhou.
The 737-800BCF cargo planes are suitable for the transport of express cargo on domestic or short-haul routes, with a payload of up to 23.9 tons and a range of 3,750 kilometers.
According to Boeing’s commercial market outlook from last year, the global civilian fleet will require 2,820 cargo planes, including 1,220 standard hull conversion carriers, to meet market demand.
China remains the second largest civil aviation market in the world with steady growth in total revenue, passenger traffic and cargo volume.
