Boeing 737 Max Will Fly Soon Again?

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaBoeing 737 Max might be able to fly again. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States and aerospace company Boeing will begin testing the 737 MAX aircraft for three days, which is scheduled for Monday (6/29/2020).

The day before the certification test began, the FAA completed a review of the 737 MAX aircraft safety system assessment and confirmed this to US lawmakers.

By email to Reuters, the FAA said the test “would include a variety of flight maneuvers and emergency procedures to enable agents to assess whether the changes met FAA certification standards.”

But the FAA added “it has not yet made a decision to allow the aircraft to reopen service”. There will be at least a number of additional steps before allowing the 737 MAX to return commercially on air.

Previously, the best-selling aircraft owned by the Boeing company had killed 346 people in two flights in Ethiopia and Indonesia. As a result of the incident that occurred within a period of 6 months, 737 MAX is prohibited from broadcasting from March 2019.

The certification test will be carried out by pilots and crew from the FAA to evaluate changes to the automatic flight control systems of this type of aircraft.

In carrying out the certification test, the pilot and FAA crew will run a number of methodically arranged aerial scenarios, such as trying to maneuver in extreme corners, especially on routes over the state of Washington.

Later the 737 MAX will start flying at the east Washington airport at Moses Lake, and will pass the line above the Pacific Ocean coastline.

The pilot will also intentionally trigger the reprogrammed Characteristic Maneuver System (MCAS) software. This MCAS device was damaged in both accidents and Boeing has been updated to prevent the same accident.

On the other hand, regulators in Europe and Canada, when working with the FAA, will also conduct their own assessments of these aircraft before being allowed to fly back commercially.
