Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – At the second division soccer team Fortuna Düsseldorf, the decision was made about the sporting future of veteran Adam Bodzek. Accordingly, the 36-year-old previous captain of the professional team should strengthen the club’s regional league team as a leading player in the next two years. In addition, Bodzek, who was born in Poland, will receive a follow-up contract for the time after his active career.
Bodzek is one of the defining figures of the past Fortuna years and was instrumental in the promotions to the Bundesliga in 2012 and 2018. In total, the midfielder wore the Düsseldorf jersey in 298 competitive games. “Our young players can use him as a guide, he will be very valuable for their development. And even after the end of his active career, Adam der Fortuna will remain in a role that has yet to be defined,” said sporting director Klaus Allofs.
