Bobík and Fifinka are crying: The author of the legendary children’s magazine has died

Bobík, Fifinka, Myšpulín and Pinďa lost one of their spiritual fathers. A long-time member of the editorial board of Čtyřlístek magazine and twice in its history also editor-in-chief Jan Endrýs is dead.

“We are deeply saddened to announce that a longtime member of our editorial office and later editor-in-chief, Jan Endrýs, died on June 16 at the age of 73.” informed the publisher of the cult magazine for children on Friday.

The four-leaf clover has been published since 1969, and Endrýs began participating in its creation in the early 1970s. He was the editor-in-chief for the first time from 1975 to 1977. “Later, in the early 1990s, he was also involved in the establishment of the independent publishing house Čtyřlístek,” his colleagues continued.

He returned to the head of the editorial board from 2012 to 2018. “He brought a number of new comic book authors to our magazine and thus contributed greatly to its current form,” said the publisher.

“Jan Endrýs was a man of great erudition and unceasing interest in what was happening around him. A man with a strong sense of humor, always in a good mood, friendly and willing to help. Jan was able to enjoy life to the fullest and we will never forget it,” concluded grieving colleagues.
