Bob Dylan scores record in UK charts with new album | NOW

Bob Dylan’s album Rough and Rowdy Ways entered the UK charts this week. With this, Dylan has set a record; The 79-year-old singer is the oldest artist ever to top the album list with his own material, according to compiler Official Charts Company on Friday.

The record was previously held by Paul Simon. Simon reached the top of the UK charts in 2016 at the age of 74 with his album Stranger To Stranger.

Rough and Rowdy Ways is Dylan’s 39th studio album and his first album of original work in eight years. In the Netherlands, the studio album also took first place upon entry. Here is the third time that a Dylan album has reached that position. In Germany, Dylan achieved a number 1 score with this album for the first time in history.

How Rough and Rowdy Ways is not yet known in Dylan’s homeland America, the album is expected to be included in the Billboard 200 next week.
