BMKG warns of the possibility of extreme rainfall in Greater Jakarta today

BMKG extension warned of the possibility of extreme rain in Jabodetabek today. BMKG confirms this forecast is not a hurricane.

“Precipitation forecast in Greater Jakarta for tomorrow December 30. The intensity can be extreme,” BMKG chief Dwikorita Karnawati said at a press conference on Thursday (29/12/2022).

Dwikorita said the area to watch was the northern part of the Bekasi regency. In addition, very heavy rain forecasts will also occur in West Jakarta, North East Jakarta, South Jakarta, North Jakarta and Bekasi city.

Meanwhile, heavy rains may occur in Tangerang District, South Tangerang City, Bogor City, South Bogor Regency, Depok and Central Jakarta.

The forecast of extreme rainfall will strengthen in the afternoon to early morning before the day change to December 31, 2022. The BMKG also urges residents to exercise caution while conducting various activities.

DKI Pemprov advises 461 mobile pumps

DKI Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) has prepared 461 mobile pumps to anticipate the impact of extreme weather conditions. Hundreds of water pumps have been deployed across the Jakarta area.

“This coordination is to ensure that all pumps, heavy equipment and flood control infrastructure can operate optimally and that all personnel are alert and responsive in anticipating and managing inundation/flooding events,” he said .
