Blue Star: State-of-the-art biostimulant fertilizers that take care of the soil and the pocket

The second grade cooperative Delagro announces the launch of the new range of Blue Star biostimulant fertilizers. An innovative product developed in collaboration with the North American multinational Alltech, which offers state-of-the-art results and adapts to the specific needs of soils and crops in northern Spain.

Xavier Caneda, responsible for the Plant Production area at Delagro, was in charge of presenting the new range, together with Pedro Palazón from Ideagro (development of agri-food products) and Agustín Murillo from Alltech (a leading multinational in animal and plant health), in a telematic meeting at that a large part of the technical and commercial teams of the member cooperatives were connected. During the conference, Caneda highlighted the characteristics of Blue Star, its microbiological properties and its benefits, as well as the importance of adapting and ensuring the soil-plant symbiosis to obtain optimal results, both in terms of quality, efficiency and regulatory compliance. .

“Thanks to a joint development process, we have obtained a biostimulant fertilizer that provides specific nutrients and bacteria adapted to the acidity of the soil that characterizes crops in northern Spain. By improving the efficiency of plants in capturing and using the nutrients available in the soil, these fertilizers contribute to a more sustainable agriculture, reducing emissions, the carbon footprint and the loss of unused nutrients. In this way, we managed to anticipate the new environmental requirements contained in the Common Agricultural Policy (PAC) and the strategy from Farm to Table, as well as the Royal Decree on Sustainable Nutrition, whose publication is imminent”, details Javier Caneda.

“At Delagro we are fully committed, firstly, to the demands of our member cooperatives, and, secondly, to protecting the environment and conserving the soil, which constitutes our livelihood. The availability of innovative products such as Blue Star will allow us to fully meet both objectives: reduce the environmental impact of agricultural activity and offer farmers quality fertilizers with great added value,” he adds.

On the other hand, Caneda also highlighted the savings that the use of these new biostimulant fertilizers entails, by incorporating the technology CONTRIBUTE®, developed by the American multinational Alltech. “With this new technology we can increase the availability of nutrients in crops and also stimulate the plant to have a greater absorption. This translates into a reduction in costs thanks to these bacteria that make it possible to take advantage of nutrients that had remained insoluble in the soil, to fix ambient nitrogen and to solubilize the insoluble phosphorus in the soil. Thus, we avoid having to apply large quantities of conventional nutrients, while complying with the new European requirements.”

During the presentation day, there was also time to offer practical advice on the application of the Blue Star biostimulant fertilizer and its use in the different types of crops. «It can be applied directly to the soil, either broadcast on the surface, on the bottom or localized. In meadows, the application is recommended in the background, in the implantation of the crop. In the case of corn, we must also apply it thoroughly, prior to implantation; For the orchard, an application is recommended at the beginning as a background fertilizer. It is also planned to develop a specific Blue Star fertilizer for forestry, to be applied from winter rest to bud swell.”

The result, as they have assured from Delagro, will be visible in the quality of the crops, since its formulation manages to stimulate the development and vegetative growth of the plants, promoting greater root development and improving production parameters.

“In short, we are very pleased to be able to offer a profitable, efficient and environmentally friendly solution, which allows us to offer cutting-edge responses to the needs of our member cooperatives and customers. We want to continue being a reference supplier with a product like Blue Star, which incorporates cutting-edge technology, optimizing fertilization and its costs”, concluded Javier Caneda.
