BloodThinners & Aspirin: Doctors Warn against Self-Treatment, Risk of Serious Complications

Istanbul, Turkey – ⁤Cardiologists are⁤ issuing⁣ a strong warning against self-medicating with blood ⁣thinners, including aspirin, citing possibly ⁣severe health risks, including⁣ brain hemorrhage.⁤ Hospital‍ Chief Physician and Cardiology Specialist Assoc. Dr.Remzi Sarıkaya emphasizes that these medications, ⁣while ‍effective when‌ appropriately prescribed, carry serious risks if taken without medical supervision.

Dr. Sarıkaya explained that careful evaluation is crucial when starting or stopping blood thinners. “Therefore, we are very meticulous when ‌deciding to start or cut these drugs, ‍we evaluate in every aspect. Otherwise the ground can be prepared for the formation of clots. This may cause different and serious health problems depending on failure, paralysis or in ⁤which organ‍ of the clot,” he stated. ⁢

The warning ⁢comes as‌ concerning⁣ trends of ‍self-treatment emerge, with individuals attempting preventative measures like daily or twice-weekly aspirin use based on community advice. Dr. Sarıkaya firmly discourages this practice, stating, “Blood water dilutors should‍ definitely be used with the ‌proposal ‍of a ⁣doctor. ⁣In recent years, the social methods that are initiated in the community, such as ⁣’let me take an aspirin a day’ or ‘use aspirin twice a week’ are absolutely ⁣not correct.”
