Blood Donation Efforts Intensify in Chalindrey and Longeau with Upcoming Schedule Changes
Chalindrey/Longeau, France – Recent blood drives in Chalindrey and Longeau mobilized over 140 donors, but organizers are urging more community members to participate as a significant shift in collection logistics is planned for 2026. The Chalindrey-Longeau Blood Donor Association is working to strengthen donor numbers to meet ongoing needs.
Collections held October 9th in Chalindrey and October 10th in Longeau resulted in 92 and 41 blood bags collected, respectively. Volunteers provided a welcoming atmosphere and refreshments, including eggs, bacon, raw vegetables, and seasonal fruit, to those who donated.
“Everything went well and we are satisfied with the overall attendance, especially in Chalindrey where we counted 92 samples, that’s good,” said Annie Brugneaux, president of the association.
Brugneaux emphasized the critical need for regular donations, stating, “People are going out less and we would like to welcome more donors to our collections as the needs are proven, the summer has gone by just in time.” She noted that all healthy adults aged 18 to 70 are eligible to donate, with men able to donate up to six times a year and women up to four.
Looking ahead, the association announced a change to its collection schedule. Starting in 2026, collections will be held only on Thursdays, alternating between Chalindrey and Longeau each month.
The schedule will be as follows: Chalindrey in February, April, July, August, October, and December; and Longeau in March, May, July, September, and November.Specific dates will be announced.
“Due to the new collection times in Chaumont, we are reviewing our days from mobilization to collection,” brugneaux explained.”A major change in habits which will mobilize the volunteers of the association each month on a site and which will force loyal and new donors to clearly identify the collection location according to the month.”
The next collection dates are December 4th in Chalindrey and December 5th in Longeau, with a festive Yule log planned for refreshments.
