Blood Donation: The 3G rule no longer applies here

Access to blood donation is again facilitated. DRK’s Kerstin Schweiger explains why the whole thing is so important to maintaining one’s health.

Prenzlau

In Prenzlau you can only donate blood again on November 23rd. Then the DRK team will be on site in the Prenzlau Community Center at Georg-Dreke-Ring 58a from 14:00 to 18:00. But it is faster in the area. Those who don’t want to wait that long will have the opportunity to do so in Schwedt and Angermünde next month. Timetables can already be found on the DRK Northeast blood donation service website.

+++ Fewer blood donation appointments in Uckermark +++

The good news: from now on the 3G regulation no longer applies to appointments, the press office at Uckermark Kurier said Thursday. However, the obligation to wear a surgical mask still exists, according to spokeswoman Kerstin Schweiger: “Anyone willing to donate will receive it on site.” Incidentally, donors can now return to their appointment four weeks after recovery after having a corona infection. In the case of a mild course of the disease without fever, this is possible even seven days after the symptoms disappear.

Access control remains

“There are still security measures on all DRK blood donation appointments to keep the risk of infection for blood donors, staff and volunteers as low as possible. This includes access control, a brief medical history, body temperature measurement, hand and surface disinfection, the use of masks and the greatest possible isolation across distances throughout the entire process, “emphasizes Kerstin Schweiger.

He points out that the reserves of blood preparations have currently fallen to a low level. Refueling is now particularly important, however, because in addition to regular surgeries, many operations postponed during the lockdown are still being recovered.

Nice feeling

“For most donors, the most important argument for donating blood is that they can help other people. The so-called “warm glow” effect is even described by scientists in this context as the good feeling of having done something good. But donors also provide for the preservation of their health through their engagement in a number of ways. In principle, blood pressure, body temperature and hemoglobin value are checked before each blood donation, which provides information on the oxygen content in the blood. If the measurements are outside the normal range, donors are informed and can promptly consult their GP or adjust their diet, for example due to iron deficiency. In addition, with each donation, the blood is tested for specific infectious agents and the donor is informed if the result is positive. ” All dates at:
