The rush last week to the two-day blood donation campaign by the Red Cross, SV Guntamatic Ried and Upper Austrian News was huge. It was the twelfth edition of the joint campaign by the three partners.
245 blood donors came to the “Oberbank Business Club” of SV Ried to make an important contribution to health care in Upper Austria. 23 people gave their blood donation for the first time. The blood donors did not let themselves be deterred from the longer waiting time, as there was already a lively rush in the afternoon. According to Jürgen Kimmerstorfer from Marketing at the Red Cross, only once more blood donors have come in the twelve years than this year. Since 2009 there have been a total of 2495 blood products that have been removed during this campaign. “In the region, the willingness to donate is very high,” said Christian Dobler-Strehle, district manager of the Red Cross in Ried.
“It is necessary and right that we as an association meet our important responsibility and make our premises available here, especially in times like these,” said SV-Ried board member Robert Tremel.
“It is a good deed, if I need blood, I am also happy when there are blood reserves for me, so I like to donate blood,” said Lena Hofbauer from Hohenzell in an interview with TV1 Upper Austria.
Actress Sila Sahin-Radlinger and her husband and SV-Ried goalkeeper Samuel Sahin-Radlinger also wanted to make their contribution to the good cause. Since both had recently taken pain medication, they did not make it through the doctor’s check-up. “But we will make up for it quickly,” said Samuel Sahin-Radlinger.
