Until recently, a very special regulars’ table took place in New York every Wednesday. Gaby Glueckselig, who died in April, invited emigrants to her apartment. In their living room on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the emigrants came together to speak German at least once a week and share their stories. They talked about everyday life, about politics or culture; but also about the escape stories. Many of the guests were Jewish and fled from National Socialism during World War II.
