The capture of Saddam Hussein on dec. 13, 2003, marked a pivotal moment in the Iraq War.American troops discovered the former Iraqi leader hiding in a shelter at a farm in Adwar, about nine miles south of his birthplace, Tikrit. He was quickly presented to the world as a disheveled figure, a stark contrast to the once formidable dictator.

For some time, U.S. forces knew that Hussein was hiding in the area around Adwar. with the assistance of loyal clan members, he frequently changed hiding places. Intelligence gathered from imprisoned resistance fighters and their own sources led them to several locations where Hussein was likely to spend the night.

Amidst the accounts of intelligence operations and military strategies, an unexpected claim emerged. Mark Hoppus, the bassist and vocalist for the band Blink-182, asserted that he provided "special tips" to an American admiral to aid in the detection of Saddam Hussein. In his book, Fahrenheit-182, Hoppus details his alleged contribution.

Hoppus suggested using drones to broadcast ultrasonic frequencies, inaudible to humans, to detect when Hussein was recording video messages. According to Hoppus, the admiral was receptive to the idea.

the reality of hussein's capture involved a more conventional approach. American soldiers discovered a ventilation pipe near a farm, leading to a small underground shelter where Hussein was hiding. He surrendered without resistance, despite having access to machine guns and a pistol.

Hussein's capture marked the end of a important chapter in Iraqi history. He was later executed in late 2006.
