Blaze Bayley, ex-vocalist of Iron Maiden, has a heart attack, leading to cancellation of future performances.

Former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley is hospitalized following a heart attack. The news was announced in a Facebook post from his manager.

The message says: “We regret to report that Blaze had a heart attack at his home last night and is now in hospital in stable condition awaiting further details regarding possible surgery or treatment. He is in good spirits despite the circumstances, but he is extremely disappointed to have to postpone the concerts which were to take place in March and April. Tickets can be refunded at source, but we really hope you keep your tickets and come to the new dates that we will announce as soon as possible.”

“As for the gigs already booked for June-November this year, we naturally have to wait a bit to see how quickly Blaze recovers, so stay tuned and in the meantime we’re sure you’ll join to us to wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

“Blaze misses you, he can’t wait to get back to full health and see you all again.”

“Thank you so much for your understanding and support.”

The concerts affected include a series of performances in France, Germany and the Czech Republic.

Bayley had just completed a UK tour and was due to start her European schedule at the LA venue in Cham, Germany on March 29.

Bayley was hired as lead singer of Iron Maiden in 1994. He released two albums with the band, The X Factor (1995) and Virtual XI (1998), which were not very well received. He left the collective in 1999, when Bruce Dickinson returned.

Outside of his time with Iron Maiden, Bayley had a long career as the lead singer of metal band Wolfsbane, as well as a successful solo career.
