Blackman (ISE) confirms talks to keep the event in Barcelona beyond 2023

ISE will be involved with the audiovisual ‘hub’ proposed in the Tres Xemeneies

BARCELONA, 20 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The general director of Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), Mike Blackman, has confirmed that he is in talks to extend his contract with Barcelona beyond 2023.

He explained it this Thursday during the ‘Zoom Marques’ event, organized by the Barcelona Audiovisual Cluster and Foment del Treball and in which the marketing director of Sono Team, Carlos Henao, and the president of the employer’s association, were also present. Josep Sánchez Llibre, among others.

Blackman has assured that the support received from administrations, entities and associations of the sector in Barcelona and Catalonia has allowed them to confirm that “Barcelona is the right place for the ISE”.

He explained that the decision to delay this year’s edition of the ISE to June was due to the lack of confidence of attendees from other countries to travel due to the pandemic and that it was “a good decision” taking into account the impact of the omicron variant in Europe.

On the other hand, Blackman has pointed out that ISE has been in contact with the Generalitat and Barcelona City Council to get involved and give support and promotion to the new audiovisual ‘hub’ that both administrations project in the area of the Tres Xemeneies.

“We are part of the audiovisual industry and a platform for the industry to promote itself. This means that we will help promote new initiatives”, he pointed out.

CONTACT WITH THE MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS

Blackman has explained that he maintains close contact with the director of the GSMA, John Hoffman, and that each time one of the two events makes a decision, he communicates it to the other.

He pointed out that the GSMA’s decision to maintain the dates of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 “is the correct one”, since the data shows that the current wave of the pandemic is reaching the peak and that the situation will be better at the end of February.

For his part, Sánchez Llibre has shown his conviction that the opportunities offered by Barcelona will make the next editions of the ISE a “success”.

The president of the employers’ association has predicted that 2022 “will be the year of recovery” despite inflation and the increase in prices of raw materials and energy.
