Black Science is a 43-issue American science fiction comic book series, created by screenwriter Rick Remender and Italian cartoonist Matteo Scalera, distributed by Image Comics between November 2013 and September 2019. The story focuses on Grant McKay, a member of the Scientific Anarchist League, along with its team and family, propelled through dimensions as they try to fix “the Pillar”, an inter-dimensional tool created for immoral and taboo purposes – “Forbidden Science”[1]“, or “Black Science” eponym. McKay and his “dimensionnauts” want to use the Pillar to jump from world to world, reaping technological and medical advances to their advantage, but an expedition member sabotages the Pillar, forcing them to visit random dimensions very often. In their quest to return to their original dimension, they will face, not without loss, parasitic mushrooms, nihilistic dimensional conquerors or alternative versions of themselves.[2].

Grant McKay, member of the Scientific Anarchist League, has finally achieved the impossible: he has deciphered the Forbidden Science which allows him to break free from the barriers of reality. Grant theorizes that each alternate reality in what he calls “the Infiniverse” is like an onion. Each layer is a new dimension, based on an endless variety of choices made by every individual, everywhere. At the center of everything, the heart of the onion, the original universe where it all began. What awaits her beyond the veil, however, is not epiphany but chaos. Grant and his team are now lost, castaways in an endless ocean of strange, hostile and long-forgotten worlds beyond anything they could have imagined.
