Statement Regarding Pershing County Sheriff’s Office Inquiry of Deceased Participant
BLACK ROCK CITY, NV – The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a white adult male that occurred in Black Rock City on the night of Saturday, August 30. Burning Man organizers are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation, which is being led by the Sheriff’s Office.
The incident prompted a statement emphasizing the importance of community safety and support resources available to participants.The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office investigates all deaths occurring within its jurisdiction.
Participants in Black Rock city have access to free public WiFi at multiple locations,including the 3 and 9 o’clock plazas,Playa Info near Center Camp,Ranger HQ (Esplanade & 6:30),the Emergency Services Department station at 5:15 & Esplanade,and in Center Camp,to facilitate dialogue with loved ones.
