Sporting Club Toulon 1986-87

The big family of the Sporting Club of Toulon lost one of its members last Thursday since the former physiotherapist Azur and Gold Philippe Millet left us, at the age of 65 and of natural death.

The person concerned had arrived from Besançon in the luggage of coach Paul Orsatti during the 1986-1987 season, just like Philippe Carvalho. “He was an extremely competent person at a time when the physical maintenance of players and the physical preparation were in their infancy. He brought us a lot in terms of lifestyle, which was not our strong point,” admits Luigi Alfano. The latter also remembers some fairly frenzied petanque games with Bernard Casoni in particular, with whom Philippe Millet was close.

Close to Ginola and Hueber

“We got into a lot of rooms because he was a festive person,” he continues. Thereafter, Philippe Millet will continue his work at the Sporting Club of Toulon under the orders of Rolland Courbis before also giving a hand to the RCT. “He took care of Aubin Hueber a lot at one time and got on well with David Ginola,” says his son Julien. A real enthusiast of physical preparation, Philippe Millet turned to golf by prefiguring what is happening today and by working with Alexander Levy, one of the best French players. This is why Philippe Millet will leave an indelible mark in the memories of those who were lucky enough to meet him. Rest in peace.
