Björk Announces New Album Will Be Previewed in 2026 Icelandic Art Exhibition
Reykjavík – Björk has announced a forthcoming exhibition at the Icelandic Art Museum in Reykjavík, opening May 30, 2026, that will feature new work based on music from her next studio album, currently in development. The exhibition, a collaboration with James Merry, will offer a first look into the artist’s next creative chapter, centered on themes of transformation and collaboration.
The proclamation arrives as Björk continues a period of prolific artistic output, including the protest song “Oral” with Rosalía against Icelandic fish farming, narrating a documentary about fungi, hosting an immersive auditory experience in Paris, and releasing the cornucopia concert film. A statement from the Reykjavík Arts Festival detailed that the first hall of the exhibition will showcase a new installation featuring music emerging from the upcoming album, inviting audiences to explore Björk’s ongoing artistic research.
Björk recently collaborated with Rosalía again on the Spanish artist’s new album, LUX, released last month. The Icelandic musician also celebrated her 60th birthday on November 21,using the occasion to share an update on “Oral” and its mission to protect nature, noting the campaign had exceeded expectations.
