Bjoergen used a forbidden measure. The reaction of the FIS surprised everyone

On Tuesday in Norway an autobiography has been published Marit Bjoergen “Vinnerhjerte” with NRK journalist Ingvild Marit Stenvold. The book caused quite a stir – in the local media there was a topic of negative comments and reactions to the body of a runner, about which she decided to tell, but also a story from the World Cup in Lahti (2017) related to one of the anti-doping controls.

Bjoergen revealed that she had used a forbidden means. Now, however, it is only an anecdote

– Some tears leaked – this is how Bjoergen describes his reaction to the test for NRK, which showed that a substance prohibited at that moment was detected in her body. In her autobiography, she cited a full story, which today is just an anecdote, but at that time it was a thing that kept the Norwegian eyes sleepy. The analysis of Bjoergen’s urine sample showed the presence of nandrolone – a steroid drug with anabolic and androgenic effects, and, according to the portal euro-sterydy.pl, “an agent that accelerates protein synthesis and also stimulates hunger, increases mineralization and bone growth. “. The substance is on the list of banned substances of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

Why did the media and fans learn about the case only four and a half years later? The International Ski Federation (FIS) closed its investigation into the case without even opening an official inquiry and accepted the translations of the Bjoergen camp. These concerned attempts to shift the athlete’s menstrual cycle thanks to the Primolut-N drug. Norwegian team physician Petter Ohlberg believes that the nandrolone in the Norwegian woman’s body was increased by dehydration during the 30 kilometers M¦ run.

If there’s a reason not to believe Bjoergen, it’s only one. Its translations are reasonable

– The conversation on the phone in which I was informed about the case was terrible, I remember it to this day. Earlier there were doping cases of Martin Jonsrud Sundby and Theresa Johaug. It seemed impossible to me – assesses Bjoergen today. The thegoaspotlight.com website, which describes the whole matter, has an interesting approach to the whole context and the sound of the runner’s translations and claims that in the face of a negative opinion about the Norwegians in the context of doping, the mention of Bjoergen does not help. However, the competitor defends herself reasonably and does not use hypocritical arguments, as in the case of Therese Johaugwho, when she was suspended in her case, talked about the use of lipstick, which was supposed to influence the results of her anti-doping tests.

Earlier in her career, Bjoergen was accused many times by the media of using illegal substances to treat her asthma. In front of M¦ in 2011 played in Oslo Journalists reported that she used clenbuterol, but then the athlete announced that she was using another forbidden drug – symbicort. However, she had permission to do so, and shortly thereafter this was removed from WADA’s list and can be used without permission.
