Shortly before leaving for Cyprus for the Europa League match with Omonia Nicosia, PSV was told that Eran Zahavi and Jordan Teze are not welcome on the island. PSV is stunned and tries with all his might to get the two to travel, PSV watcher Rik Elfrink tells VoetbalPrimeur. He speaks of ‘special times’.
“There is a lot going on at PSV”, said Elfrink. PSV misses nine players against Omonia Nicosia. But even if the Eindhoven club fails to bring Zahavi and Teze to Cyprus, trainer Roger Schmidt can set up a ‘competitive team’. “They can make a setup, let’s type it that way.”
Yvon Mvogo is under the bar according to Elfrink and Mauro Júnior, Jorrit Hendrix, Olivier Boscagli and Philipp Max are the defense. Ibrahim Sangaré and Ryan Thomas are the midfield controllers, with Mohamed Ihattaren and Mario Götze in front. In the front are probably Donyell Malen and Noni Madueke. “Then you still have a very competitive team”, said the PSV watcher. “It is only very thin defensively.”
“Three points are still possible with this team”, says Elfrink. “Although Omonia has turned out to be quite strong this season. If you do what you have to do, it usually works.”
