Bizarre find in German bunkers: two Dutch men arrested | Inland

The police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Olst and a 38-year-old man from Raalte after a huge firework find in Germany. The police found more than 120,000 kilos of high explosives in old NATO bunkers. The fireworks, which are worth several million euros, were probably intended for the Dutch private market.

The more than 120,000 kilos of illegal fireworks were found in early November in a shed in Rheine, just across the border in Germany. The Dutch police discovered it in a large-scale international investigation into the illegal trade in professional fireworks and collaborated with the German police. It was the largest fireworks catch ever for the Dutch police. In comparison: last year the investigative services seized almost 123,000 kilos of illegal fireworks.
