Alen Halilovic has found a new club. The former child prodigy of FC Barcelona will continue his career at Championship club Birmingham City, after his contract with AC Milan was not renewed.
Birmingham announces the arrival of Halilovic on official channels on Monday. The 24-year-old Croat has long been seen as one of the greatest talents in the world, but his big breakthrough failed to materialize. It will already be the ninth club for the midfielder, who joined last season on a rental basis sc Heerenveen played.
After his period at Barcelona, Halilovic was under contract with the necessary clubs. He tried it at Sporting Gijón, Hamburger SV, Las Palmas, AC Milan, Standard Liège and SC Heerenveen, but his development stagnated.
Halilovic made his debut in the national team of Croatia at the age of sixteen and played seventeen Eredivisie matches and three cup matches at Heerenveen. He scored once: against ADO Den Haag, he aimed the ball beautifully in the top corner. He has now signed a contract with the number seventeen of the second level in England.
