Bird flu in Ireland: ban on imports of poultry and meat products

Dubai: The UAE Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOCA) has banned the import of poultry and meat products, including poultry, from countries affected by bird flu in November-December.

Most recently, the import of poultry and poultry meat products from Ireland was banned. The decision comes as bird flu is spreading across the country. A complete ban was imposed on the importation of ornamental birds, broilers, chicks, wildlife, hatching eggs, processed beef, goat, lamb and poultry products from Ireland. The decision comes after the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment confirmed that bird flu was spreading in Ireland.

Imports of wild birds, ornamental birds, hatchlings, hatching eggs and poultry were completely banned until the UK declared Croatia, Croatia, the Swedish county, the French island of Corsica, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and some parts of Russia free of the disease. After October 23, Mocha imposed restrictions, including the rejection of poultry products produced in Sk സ്ne County and elsewhere. The situation is likely to continue until the Ministry of Health Certification and the Swedish Ministry agree.

In addition, Moka decided to refuse goods, including eggs and poultry, produced in Corsica and other parts of France after October 17th. But last week, Moka issued a circular allowing the country to import ornamental birds, broilers, chicks, wildlife, hatching eggs, processed beef, mutton, lamb and poultry from Egypt and Hungary.

The decision follows a meeting between the UAE Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Control. In addition, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) has banned the import of poultry, animal and meat products from poultry farms in Egypt following its declaration of being free of the avian influenza virus. The ministry has also lifted a ban on the import of livestock from Hungary following confirmation from the OIE that the country is now virus-free.

At the same time, the import of birds, eggs and meat is permitted subject to the issuance of health certificates certifying that the birds are from areas not affected by bird flu.
