Billboard names Cardi B Woman of the Year and will give another award to J.Lo – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK. – Cardi B has only released one single this year, the hit “WAP”, but that was enough for Billboard to name her their Woman of the Year.

Billboard announced the recognition Wednesday and the Grammy-winning rapper will be celebrated at the magazine’s 15th annual Women in Music event, which will air live on December 10 on billboardwomeninmusic.com starting at 8 pm in New York.

Jennifer Lopez will receive the Icon award at the event, and Dolly Parton the Powerhouse award.

Other honorees include singer Dua Lipa (Powerhouse Award), sister R&B duo Chloe x Halle (Rising Star), and Colombian-born Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez (Impact). Atlantic Records’ Brianna Agyemang and Jamila Thomas – who spearheaded the #TheShowMustBePaused campaign in response to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery this year – will receive the Executive of the Year award.

In addition to “WAP,” which she performs with Megan Thee Stallion and spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Cardi B was featured this year on the single “Bet You Wanna” by K-pop girl band BLACKPINK. and with the Brazilian singer Anitta in “Me gusta”.
