The city of Bilbao meets 721 years since its foundation and is going to celebrate them with shows on the streets. From June 15 to 20, art will take three different points of the town: Lighthouses on the walk of Abandoibarra, Dantz-Point on Zorrotzaurre Y Kantaire on the Arriaga Theater Square.
Mayor, Juan Mari Aburto he will kick off with an institutional act on the first day, next Tuesday, when, accompanied by the rest of the Corporation, he will raise the white and red flag.
The City Council has decided to commemorate the 721 anniversary in a special way, safely and without crowds faced with a still delicate pandemic situation. To do this, it has programmed a series of artistic interventions in the street so that the citizens of Bilbao can enjoy the city’s birthday with guarantees.
LIGHTS, ABANDOIBARRA
The evenings from June 15 to 20 they will be different on the Abandoibarra promenade. The artistic intervention on the promenade of the pier, under the name of Lighthouses (headlights) will pay tribute to the industrial activity of yesteryear.
DANTZ-POINT, ZORROTZAURRE
Music will star the days June 18 and 19. Dantz-Point, in Zorrotzaurre, will be a session of electronic music, recorded with audiovisual content, by the DJ Judy. It can be enjoyed by streaming from 22:00 hours on June 18, on the Facebook account of the City Council (Bilbao Udala) and on the online platform of Dantz-Point. The people of Bilbao scattered around the world will be able to get close to their city’s birthday in a virtual way.
KANTAIRE, PLAZA ARRIAGA
Saturday June 19, at 12:30 pm, in Plaza Arriaga, the Bilbao Choral Society, under the direction of Enrique Azurza, will pay his particular tribute.
