Search Underway for Missing Rider After Accident
Authorities are currently searching for a motorcyclist who disappeared following a collision on the Hume Freeway in Victoria’s north-east late Friday evening. The rider was ejected from their bike near the southbound on-ramp of the Wangaratta South entrance after hitting a car.
The Incident Unfolds
The incident occurred around 6:30 pm. The driver involved stopped and communicated with the police at the scene. However, the motorcyclist was nowhere to be found, and their condition is unknown.
The motorcycle itself was discovered at the crash site. It had no registration plates attached. Moreover, the rider’s helmet and gloves were located in a nearby field following a thorough search between the freeway and Glenrowan Road.
Extensive Search Efforts Yield No Results
Police have conducted an extensive search. This included a line search, house-to-house inquiries in the area, and checks with local hospitals. The police air wing also assisted with the search without success.
“Police are appealing for the rider to come forward and for anyone with information to contact police,” authorities have stated, urging anyone with details to step forward.
